About julienika.cz

julienika.cz publishes practical reference guides and free browser-based tools for people who make things — bakers, soap makers, potters, resin casters, aquarists, photographers and others whose hobbies involve getting a number right.

What is here

Two kinds of thing.

Guides. Written explanations of the ideas the tools are built on: what baker's percentage actually measures, why soap recipes must be recalculated rather than copied, why clay shrinks twice, what goes wrong when epoxy is mixed off-ratio. They are written to be read on their own, whether or not you ever open a calculator. Each one aims to explain the underlying principle well enough that you could do the arithmetic on paper.

Tools. Small, single-purpose calculators and utilities, each on its own address. They are free, need no account, and several of them — the image and file tools in particular — run entirely inside your browser, meaning the files you open are never uploaded anywhere.

Who writes it

The site is run by an independent developer based in the Czech Republic. It is a personal project rather than a company: there is no team, no newsletter, and nothing to sign up for.

The guides are written from established practice in each field, and are reviewed for technical accuracy before publication. Where a subject has real safety implications — lye handling, epoxy exotherm, kiln work — the guides say so plainly rather than glossing over it. They are general reference material, not professional advice, and they do not replace the data sheet, manual or regulations that apply to what you are doing.

How it is paid for

The site carries advertising through Google AdSense, which is what covers the hosting. There are no affiliate links in the guides, nothing is sponsored, and no product is recommended in exchange for payment. If a specific tool or brand is mentioned, it is because it is relevant to the subject.

The privacy policy explains what that advertising means for your data, and what the site itself does and does not collect.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, I would rather know. Technical subjects have edge cases, standards change, and a guide written today can quietly go out of date. Corrections are welcome via the contact page, and factual fixes are made promptly.
